2 Fluege noch uebrig. . . / 2 flights left . . .

Hallo zusammen!
Ich bin wieder zurueck in Sunnyvale, ein letztes Mal. Es wird damit ja Zeit fuer mich zu verabschieden. Verabschieden von was ?
Na, von neuen Freunden:
Danke an Claire, Marie-Charlotte (ma petite coccinelle), Luca, David, Andi, Alex, Ronny, Manu, Marcel und all den anderen neuen. Die meisten haben es mir ja auch einfach gemacht und sind mir schon vorausgeeilt, auch wenn, im falle der Mädels, sie wieder nach Sunnyvale kommen. Ich kann hier dann auch nicht mehr Bilder von allen reinsetzen, aber eines, lieber Andi, der ruehrende Abschied, bevor ich nach Seattle aufgebrochen bin . . . Ohhhh Mann!
Dann ging es auf die letzte grosse Tour:

Seattle: (mehr als nur Regen und Starbucks)
Von meinem Aufehnthalt in Forks und der Gegend habe ich ja schon berichtet. Im Anschluss waren wir dann noch in Port Angeles, um die Twighlight - Jagt zu vervollstaändigen. Aber das war ja nicht alles in Washington, denn wir waren vor dem Weiterflug ja auch noch in Seattle. Ich muss gestehen, ich weiss nicht, warum mich diese Stadt auch wieder im besonderen so anzieht. Vieleicht ist es das kontroverse zwischen modernem Umweltschutz und dem "Indie" Style und der grossen Geschäfte wie Microsoft, Boeing und Starbucks. Vieleicht ist es aber auch einfach die Ähnlichkeit zur Heimat, grade vom Klima her . . .
Geschlafen haben wir im Hostel, dem Green Tortoise was sehr unterhaltsam war, viele Leute kennen gelernt, mal wieder nach Parkplatz gesucht (lag auch an dem riesen Mietwagen den wir hatten . . .
An dieser Stelle waren noch 4 Fluege uebrig . . . (fuer die die mitzählen) und dann ging es auch schon wieder mit, dieses mal Delta Airlines, nach Salt Lake City.

Salt Lake City: (Von Mormonen und anderen Ueberraschungen)
Ich muss gestehen, ueber Salt Lake City könnte ich mich jetzt ziemlich lange auslassen, da doch sehr viel ueberraschendes vorgefallen ist. Zunächst einmal haben Basti und ich uns ein "nettes" (ich möchte es trotz allem mal so nennen) Hostel gesucht. Man kann es auch nicht anders sagen, es war wirklich BILLIG. Sowas muss dann ja aber auch einen Haken haben: Es haben nur verrueckte in dem Hotel gewohnt (muss ich dann ja gut gepasst haben :-D).
Jedenfalls war Salt Lake City schon beeindruckend, wobei ich sagen muss, dass die Stadt und der Staat Utah schon sehr von den Mormonen geprägt sind. Fuer mich wirken die allerdings wie die Zeugen Jehovas . . . soll keine Beleidigung sein.
Der Grund fuer den Besuch war aber natuerlich das Salz vom See, das ich auch gefunden habe, und der See ist wirklich seeeeeehr gross, kann man nicht anders sagen. Aber auch hier hiess es dann wieder Auf Wiedersehen nach vielen Eindruecken und einer langen durschzechten Nacht.
3 Fluege sind ja noch uebrig, und weiter ging es wieder mit Delta Airlines nach Las Vegas.

Las Vegas: Von einem der Auszog, einen "Draufzumachen"
Was soll ich sagen? Ja, Las Vegas mal wieder. Dieses Mal heb wir im Stratosphere uebernachtet, dem Hotel zu dem der große Turm gehört. Und wo man schon die Gelegenheit hat, muss man natuerlich auch in so eine Fahrattraktion gehen: Kreiseln in 88,5 m Höhe frei ueber dem Boden :-) War eine Menge Spass!
Gesehen habe ich mal wieder viel, in Clubs dann aber weniger, da uns der Eintritt einfach zu viel war. Stattdessen haben wir noch etwas die kuriose Natur um Las Vegas und den Hoover Dam bewundert.
Abenteuerlich wurde dann wieder die Abreise, da dieses Mal nicht mit dem Flieger, sondern mit dem Auto: Unser Wagen, ein Ford Escape, grade 2000 Meilen alt. Ziel: Sunnyvale. Entfernung: 560 Meilen.
Gefahren sind wir ueber Nacht, damit wir die Anderen nicht stören und haben das auch sehr ausgedehnt, bis zu Vidoe gucken auf dem Laptop im Auto auf einem Rastplatz. Zurueck waren wir dann Mittwoch Morgen um 7:30 Ortszeit und waren dann Pennen um einen sehr ruhigen Tag wieder zurueck in Sunnyvale zu verbringen.

Das lässt jetzt noch 4 Tage und 2 Fluege mit British Airways uebrig, aber da werd ich vorher (Abflug Sonntag) noch was berichten.

Hi to everybody!
I am again back in Sunnyvale for the last time so far. That means it's time for me to leave soon. It will be hard to farewell my "new" friends: Thanks at Claire, Marie Charlotte (ma petite coccinelle), Luca, David, Andi, Alex, Ronny, Manu, Marcel and all the other new interns around. Most of them have make it easy for me because they have already left even if, in case of the girls, they will be back again in Sunnyvale. I have to say theat there are no pictures of all but one of the parting with Andi before I have left for Seattle… Ohhhh man!
After this I left for the last trip:
Seattle: (more than only rain and Starbucks)
From the stay in Forks and the area I already reported. Afterwards we were in Port Angeles, to round up Twighlight the movie. But this was not everything in Washington, because we still visited Seattle before going on. I have to admit this city attracts me in such a way very positive and I don't know exactly why. Perhaps it is the controversy between modern environmental protection and "Indie" style and the large businesses such as Microsoft, Boeing and Starbucks. Perhaps it is in addition simply the similarity to my homeland (similar climate)….
We slept in the hostel named Green Tortoise. We met many interesting people and looking araound a lot for a parking lot (rented car was way to big for a city.
At this point there were still 4 flights remaining… (for those who count) and then went on with Delta Airlines this time to Salt Lake City.
Salt Lake City: (Of Mormons and other surprises)
I have to confess, over Salt Lake City I could tell quite a lot for much unexpected things happened there. First of all Basti and I booked a "nice" (I would like to call like this even when it was everything despite that) Hostel. I can't deny that it was really CHEAP. So there has to be a hook in addition: All people there were crazy (I must have fit then well :-D). Anyhow Salt Lake City was very impressing even when I have to admit that the city and the State of Utah are coined/shaped by the Mormons very much. For me however they are like the witnesses of Jehova … should not be an offense. The reason for the visit was however the salt of the lake which I have also explored and which is really veeery largel. In addition it was again a lot of impressions I have collected here and a long celebrated night with the crazy guys from the hostel.
3 flights are still to come and I continued to Las Vegas again with Delta Airlines.
Las Vegas: From one who took off to have the time of his life
What am I to say? Yes, Las Vegas again. This time we stayed at the Stratosphere to which the large tower belongs. And if one has already the opportunity one must go naturally into the driving attraction at the top of the tower: Height 983 feet freely over the ground :-) and it was a lot of fun! We wanted to spend some time in clubs then however this has not happened because the entrance fee was simply too high. Instead we have seen some more strange nature around Las Vegas and seen the Hoover Dam. Then again the departure this time not with a plane but the adventure went on by car: Our car: a Ford Escape aged just 2000 miles . Our destination: Sunnyvale. Distance: 560 miles. We drove the distance over night for not disturbing the others. We expanded the trip however by looking videos on the laptop in the car. We were back on Wednesday morning around 7:30 local time and went to bed for resting and a very quiet day back in Sunnyvale.

That leaves now 4 days and 2 flights with British Airways before (takeoff Sunday) I will be leaving but before I am still going to report some more.

The Vampires are coming

Da bin ich wieder!
Ich bin heile in Saettle und dann in Folks angekommen! Der Flug mit Virgin America war einsame Klasse (fuer amerikanische Verhältnisse) und das Wetter bei der Ankunft Super.
Wir haben einen rieeesigen Mietwagen (Nissan Pathfinder) und waren schon am Strand im National Park und morgen gehts in den Regenwald.
Schlafen werden wir dann in so ca. 1 Stunde in Folks, ein kleiner Ort an der Westseite vom Nationalpark und bekannt geworden durch Twighlight. Auf speziellen Wunsch werden dann doch auch noch Fotos von den Schauplätzen gemacht . . .
Das als kleiner Zwischenbericht . . . mein Bier und Bett wartet . . .

P.S.: Der Countdown ist damit jetzt bei 4 bevor ich deutschen Boden unter den Fuessen habe (jaaaa, da war doch was, genau, ich hab den "Flug - Countdown").

It's me again!
I have arrived safely in Saettle and afterwards in Folks! The flight with Virgin America was a class of its own (for American conditions) and the weather with at the arrival splendit.
We have a biiiiiiig rental car (Nissan Pathfinder) and were already at the beach in the national park and will go to the rain forest in Olympic tomorrow.
We will go to bed in approx. 1 hour in Folks, a small "town" at the west side of the national park recently known from the movie Twighlight. On special desire I will take pictures of all important places in this case….
This is just a small interim report… my beer and bed are waiting for me….

P.S.: The countdown is down to 4 by now (yeeeeees, there my special " Flight - Countdown" for counting the last few days in the USA).

Introduction of the "coming home countdown"

Mein neues Lebensmotto und Lebensstil: Hawaiianisch lässig und locker . . .
Es war Urlaub im Paradies . . . Herrlichstes Wetter, warm und Strand Strand Strand!
Ich muss schon gestehen dass ich jetzt gerne den Urlaub verlängert hätte, aber wer möchte nicht gerne im Paradies bleiben?! Wobei ueber kurz oder lang vermisst man dann ja doch Freunde und Familie. Naja, ich bin zurueck und ein paar weitere Abenteuer stehen ja noch an, bevor es am 27.9. (2 Monate nach meinem Geburtstag) wieder in Richtung Heimat geht. Aber ich schweife ab, ich wollte ja was zum Countdown schreiben.
Also ich zähle jetzt in Fluegen Rueckwärts.
START: 15 Fluege (Roundtrips: STR-LHR, LHR-SFO, EWR, SEA, HON, ITO [Hilo] und One-ways: SEA, SLC, LAS)
Vor Hawaii waren 6 Fluege verbraucht, jetzt nach der Rueckkehr sind noch 5 uebrig womit 4 auf Hawaii erledigt wurden: Hin- und Rueckflug: United Airlines (Boing 777) und Hilo Hin- und Rueckflug: go! (Flugzeug unbekannt). Dazu gibts dann auch die passende Geschichten. Erstens haben wir festgestellt, dass bei United die Stewardessen wohl mit dem Flieger eingestellt werden und die Flieger damit verdammt alt sind und zweitens das die es von go! auf dem Rueckflug so eilig hatten, dass der Pilot schon im Wenden voll durchgestartet ist!
Aber ich habe natuerlich auch sehr viel gesehen auf Hawaii: Die Strände von O'ahu, eine Riesenschildkröte, den Vulkan auf Big Island, all die Hotels und Touisten und Pearl Harbor, der Start der USA in den 2. Weltkrieg.
Was kann das noch toppen? Ich werde in den nächsten 14 Tagen mein bestes geben, mir den Regenwald in Washington State und Seattle angucken, den großen Salzsee bei Salt Lake City bestaunen (damit war ich dann auch an allen wichtigen Salzplätzen der Westkueste) und dann mich nochmal ins Abenteuer Las Vegas stuerzen . . .
Wenn ich es dann nach Hause geschafft habe, gibts mehr, es sei denn ich find Gelegenheit zwischendurch . . . .

Aloha and Mahalo!
My new slogan and lifestyle: Hawaiian leave and loosely…. It was vacation in the Paradies… We got the most beautiful weather, warm temperatures and beach beach beach! I have to confess that I gladly would have extended the vacation when possible but who would not like to remain in the Paradies?! Unfortunatly you have to leave sooner or later butt you also will start to miss the ones left back home: friends and family. I am back now in Sunnyvale and a few further adventures still are going to come before I will leave at the 27th of September (2 months after my birthday) and go back home.
But I deviate, I wanted write down what I COUNT down. For this I will now count backwards in flights.
START: 15 flights (Roundtrips: STR-LHR, LHR-SFO, EWR, SEA, HONE, ITO [Hilo] and One ways: SEA, SLC, READ).
Before Hawaii 6 flights were used up, now after the return there are still 5 left with which leaves 4 done when on Hawaii: There and Back again: United Airlines (Boing 777) and Hilo there and back again: go! (Airplane unknown). In addition there are also suitable stories from the travelling. First of all we stated that the hostesses at United are probably adjusted with the plane and the planes thereby are condemned old and secondly that at go! on the return flight they wanted to be back fast and for that the pilot already powered completly in the turn at the end of the runway!
But I have also seen very much on Hawaii: The beaches of O' ahu, a giant turtle, the volcano on Big Island, all the hotels and tourists and Pearl Harbor, the start of the USA into the 2nd world war. What can still beat this? I will give it a try in the next 14 days: the rain forest in Washington State and Seattle to look at, the large salt lake near Salt Lake City (with which I will have seen all important salt places of the west coast) and then push me again in the adventurous Las Vegas…. When I am back, I will report more or probably in between when possible….

Vacation part 1

Hi everybody!
Yes, you are right there is a change. For the first time the original post is in English and if I will have some spare time probably German wil follow.
The last week was very exciting. My niece Carolin was still on vacation here and I explored the south of California a bit further with her: EXPLORING SAN DIEGO!
We had a lot of fun down in the south and a lot more heat than back here in the Valley. But actually I will leave it in a few hours time west to Hawaii (Ohahu [Waikiki beach]). . . but back to the week in San Diego: We had the best weather conditions you can think of.
The week started with a trip to the Universal Studios in Hollywood and enjoyed all the rides and shows and things to see. Unfortunatly we met no filmstar during our stay except Whoopie Goldberg in the video of the studio tour. After this exquisit journey into the world of moving fiction we went further south to our final destination San Diego.

And these were the main activities down in southern California: Beachin and visiting the famous San Diego Zoo. I hope I will find a bit more time to explain more and give a bit more details but now it is 12:05 am and I must go to bed for the flight tomorrow morning!
